Your Role as a Department Lead

✔ You retain full agency to determine if a volunteer is a good fit for your team\
✔ Meet with each potential volunteer to discern placement\
✔ Share role expectations and ministry-specific commitments\
✔ Confirm Planning Center access and team integration readiness\
✔ Celebrate, coach, and connect volunteers relationally

What Volunteers Are Told Up Front

Connections Team Role

The Connections Team handles:\
• Collecting and tracking initial interest\
• Scheduling follow-ups and sending next steps\
• Communicating with volunteers until federal onboarding is complete\
• Handing off volunteers to department leads for fit conversations

Key Tools and Documents

– Volunteer Handbook (culture, expectations, safety)\
– Planning Center Reference Guide\
– Orientation Slides + Agenda\
– Handoff Checklist (for you!)
