Mosaic Volunteer Culture
Mission
Mosaic exists for the lost, broken, and skeptical to find new life in Christ. We are a church for people who don’t think church is
for them.
Vision
To see the lost, broken, and skeptical find new life in Jesus.
Values
Honor – Value every person as made in the image of God.
Passion – Bring energy and enthusiasm to your role.
Connection – Build relationships that encourage and uplift.
Generosity – Serve with a giving heart.
Excellence – Do your best with what you have.
Volunteer Behaviors
These behaviors define what it means to be a Mosaic volunteer and help create a strong, welcoming environment.
-
Make it Better
Look for the little ways that make a big difference. Always look for ways to improve the experience for others. Whether it’s greeting
someone with warmth or adjusting how you serve, small changes make a big difference. -
Make it Fun
Joy is contagious. Church should be a joyful place! Bring a positive attitude and make volunteering an enjoyable experience for
yourself and others. -
Take it Personal
Own your impact. Your role matters. Own your responsibilities, and remember that what you do impacts someone’s experience with
God and the church. -
Express Two-Way Gratitude
Say it. Receive it. Mean it. Say thank you often and receive appreciation with humility. Recognize the efforts of those around you. -
When in Doubt – Talk it Out
Clear is kind. If you’re unsure about something, ask. Clear communication helps avoid confusion and keeps things running
smoothly. -
Be Ready to Help
Step in & step up. Whether it’s stepping in for another volunteer, training someone new, or noticing a need, be willing to support
the team. -
Open to Change
Flexibility is a superpower. Things can shift quickly. Be flexible and willing to adjust as needed. -
Rest Well
Serve from a healthy place. Volunteering is important, but so is taking care of yourself. Find a balance that allows you to serve well
without burnout. -
Apologize Quickly
Own it. Fix it. Move forward. If a mistake happens, own it, fix it, and move forward with grace. -
Serve Like Christ
Love first. Welcome always. Follow Jesus’ example by loving, welcoming, and caring for everyone who walks through the doors.
Cultural Phrases
“Close the Loop” – If you start a task, make sure it’s finished or handed off properly.
“I need 8 minutes” – A way to let someone know you need support or a listening ear.
“I have a concern” – Use this phrase when something important needs immediate attention.
“Help me understand” – Ask for clarity in a way that fosters open conversation.
“If it wasn’t written down, it didn’t happen” – Good communication ensures everyone stays on the same page.
This document outlines the core cultural elements of serving as a volunteer at Mosaic Wadsworth. These principles guide how we interact, serve, and
represent our church community.
